How to reinvent yourself and build a new life

There are many of us who at some point have had a job that we did not like or have realized that we are not comfortable with our lives. The same thing happened to me when I worked in one of the Big Four. He worked hard and earned more, but he was not happy.

At that moment, I thought: How can I reinvent myself?

After a process of personal introspection, I decided to start this blog. I trained and shared what I learned. A couple of years later, I was fired and undertook.

I started selling my services and my courses. Right away, I started earning a salary and made more than an employee in no time.

And best of all, my life had a purpose.

We return to the question: How to reinvent yourself?

What is reinventing yourself?

Reinventing ourselves is about changing the way we think, feel and act.

To do this, we have to get out of our comfort zone, which generates fear and, sometimes, anguish.

Reinventing ourselves results from some trigger; it is not something people do for pleasure. It is not about new changing who we are but about working on ourselves without losing our essence.

To change takes time, will and determination.

How to reinvent yourself

Reinventing yourself is a task that requires constant dedication.

It is not about making a simple change of look, but about changing the way you act.

Whether reinventing yourself at 40 or leaving your university stage and joining the job market, you need to take an inner journey.

If you want to know how to reinvent yourself, follow these seven steps:

First, knowing yourself is curious how easy it is for us to talk about others and how difficult it is to do so about ourselves.

The reality is that we don’t know each other well enough.

To reinvent yourself, you first have to get to know yourself. If you don’t see what you are like, you won’t evolve because you won’t know your starting point.

It is necessary to work on self-knowledge to know oneself.

Do you remember when you were at school, and your partner went out to explain something?

It could already be a perfect exposition that you would hear giggles in the background if you stuttered or mispronounced a word.

This external manifestation is a reflection of our interior.

We often focus on the negative and take the positive for granted, as if we were perfect.

We are not, and we never will be, even if we pretend to be.

Be positive. You have many gifts, food, and family and friends.

Being positive will lead you to be grateful, the first step to being happy.

A positive mindset will make you constant and persistent despite the difficulties that arise on your path of personal growth.

The person you talk to the most is yourself. Not your mother, not your girlfriend, not your best friend.

Internal dialogue is the one you have with yourself.

If you new look closely, you will see that you speak badly, that you are hard and that, at times, you are cruel.

Would you like to be treated like this? Would you allow it?

I’m sure not. Stop doing it.

Start treating yourself well, with respect and with love.

Internal dialogue affects us at all levels of life:

  • If we tell ourselves that life is lovely, that is what we express and enjoy.
  • if we tell ourselves that life is unbearable, we transmit that and crawl through life.

Indeed you have a cheerful friend who is nice to be with and a negative one who drains your energy every minute you spend with him.

What kind of person do you want to be?

To reinvent yourself, you have to work and change your internal dialogue.

We can make a change in our lives on our own.

The truth is that to go faster and safer, and we need someone to help us discover the path and encourage us to travel it.

Also, someone outside has to validate our progress.

It is the figure of the mentor.

We all have a person in our lives that we turn to when we are lost or have an important decision to make.

In the professional world, having a mentor is essential.

Find out how to choose a mentor.

Once you have done introspection, valued the positive in you, worked on your internal dialogue and found a mentor, it is time to finalize your roadmap.

What are you now going to do to reinvent yourself?

Put your goals in writing. Next, think about new what you are going to do to achieve them.

Here, you must consult your mentor to help you specify and be realistic and make a gradual change.

Rome wasn’t built in 3 days, and you won’t change overnight.

How would I like to be? What would I like to work on? How would I want to be in 5 years?

Process and mature that information over several days. Then make your plan with specific actions and dates.

What habits do you need to transform yourself into your best version?

And it is that one of the keys to making your transformation effective is precisely to establish new habits in your life.

All the previous new steps are of little use if you do not put them into practice.

Sports, food and rest are three fundamental pillars of a successful life and a complete reinvention.

For your health and mental well-being, corporal well-being is necessary.

You and your mentor are the ones who have to specify the rest of the habits. To start, I recommend reading the book Miracle Mornings by Hal Elrod.

You can complement this information with the work Atomic Habits.

It is significant that you read and train, but remember that the main thing is that you take action.

It will take a while to acquire your new habits. However, you will feel much more energetic and happier once you do.

In his work The 7 Habits of Highly new Effective People, Stephen Covey says that the first habit is to be proactive and the second to start with the end in mind.

The previous six steps are typical of a proactive person.

Now is the time to make permanent in our mind the goal we aspire to achieve.

Use mobile notices, post-its or inspirational phrases.

The important thing is that you keep in mind where you are going. It’s what will keep you focused and motivated.

In addition to a mentor, you can count on a mastermind group to share your progress, your problems and your concerns.

How to reinvent yourself professionally

When you complete your reinvention, you will be on the exit ramp of your professional reinvention.

If you intend to tackle a professional reinvention without a personal one, you will be back to square one sooner rather than later.

So I recommend you go step by step.
