To talk about digital transformation is to talk about the progress and improvement that occurs in processes thanks to the use of technology. Digitization offers growth opportunities in all areas, for this reason, transformation is already a reality in most sectors of society.
However, it is paradoxical that, with some exceptions, this transformation has not yet occurred in the educational field, which among its main objectives is to prepare young people so that they can face the challenges of the future and of the world in which They will have to live, endowing them with the necessary skills so that they can do so in the best conditions.
However, this is changing and faster and faster. Digital transformation is already a reality in many educational centers, something to which the current health situation has not been alien.
The digitalization of the classrooms has allowed the centers to continue with the planned calendar despite the closures of classrooms that have occurred, thanks to the digital resources and content that have allowed them to continue with distance classes.
Among the digital resources that have made this possible, the contents and pedagogical proposals of aulaPlaneta stand out, a benchmark for innovation and digitization of education in Spain, present in educational centers and institutions of the different autonomous communities that have opted for educational improvement, through the digitalization of classrooms and the digital curriculum.
The presence of aulaPlaneta in some communities has been reinforced, during this school year 2020/21, with the provision of access to the contents and resources of aulaPlaneta that make up the digital curriculum to public and subsidized centers of the Community of Madrid of core subjects in Spanish and English, from 5th grade to 4th grade secondary.
The access of Madrid centers to the aulaPlaneta digital curriculum has been a determining factor for students to be able to continue with their classes, in the distance mode, despite the closure of the centers due to the effects of the snowfall.
This continuity of the teaching activity has been valued very positively by the Minister of Education, Enrique Ossorio, who stressed that “Now we are very happy with the decision we made to have the aulaPlaneta platform. We never thought it would be from a snowstorm; We thought that it would be good to have this platform with core subjects in Spanish and English if there was a new confinement. This is a huge help for the teachers in case of confinement and for distance education ».
But the digital curriculum has not only been made available to centers thinking about possible confinements due to the pandemic, according to Ossorio. “It is also a trend for the future since our objective is that, more and more, our students work with digital resources. Digital resources such as those of AulaPlaneta greatly simplify the teacher’s work » .
In this course that began in September, the Community of Madrid has made a great effort in technology and digitalization of the classrooms – already started during confinement – as an effective measure for distance education and also as a bet for the future of improving the educational system.
As the Minister of Education points out, “Digital education is the future: we will not go down steps when the virus ends .”
Enrique Ossorio have been extracted from interviews with the counselor by Onda Cero and the newspaper La Razón, during the week of January in which the educational centers in Madrid were closed due to the effects of the Filomena storm.
